Csaf ushers in new leadership
Civil Society Advocacy forum (CSAF) a network of 71 registered member organisations spearheading among others the fight against HIV and Aids, Tuberculous and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights ushered in new leadership on Friday.
The new Chairperson Gift Trapence Cedep’s Executive Director said he would carry on the good work done by the outgoing leadership while realigning with new expectations and objectives.
“I realise the pressure that has been there but also the amount of work that is there but also the expectations and aspirations of the members including the, communities that we serve. As we are now, I have to say that Csaf is in a very good position because we have leaders who are a good resource.
“The outing leaders are a good resource we will rely on the outgoing chair and the entire leadership for guidance. We will make sure that we continue the work that you are doing realigning to the new expectations and new ideas that are there,” he said.
Commenting on his tenure the outgoing Chairperson, David Kamkwamba said it was an honour to lead the grouping from its inception and was quick to applaud the membership for team work.
“It was not an easy task but somehow, we managed to achieve our goals and objectives a group. We must continue to be vigilant in what we fight for. Let me mention about the power of teamwork which has helped us to excel in what we want to achieve as a group,” he said.
Csaf is funded through Compass which is a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded program, and utilises country-based coalitions of civil society groups in Malawi, Tanzania and Zimbabwe and global advocacy partners (based in Uganda, US, Zimbabwe) who bring specific technical expertise.
